Driver Development - Professional

The backbone of SNT Motorsports coaching programs is training professional race car drivers at the highest levels of the sport. Current & upcoming drivers understand that NASCAR’s oval-centric course structure does not prepare them for success on road courses. In this highly competitive environment, a driver cannot afford to go into a road course race unprepared when a poor performance will affect their championship points.

SNT Motorsports coaches Chris Cook and Dave Smith have been teaching and training at the top level of the sport for many years. Both come from similar backgrounds, instructing at some of the worlds most recognized schools (Bondurant, Skip Barber, Jim Russell). Growing up in the heart of the wine country, near one of the most physically and mentally challenging road courses in the world - Infineon Raceway - Chris and Dave have spent many years instructing and honing the craft of extreme car control and road course racing.

Professional coaching is focused on strong fundamentals. SNT will also assist drivers in gaining specific track/car knowledge to better their overall race performances. It is common for SNT to work with NASCAR drivers to better prepare them for the specific road races within their series.

Driver development is an ongoing focus for the driver wishing to better their performances at any level. SNT can establish highly customized-long term programs that specialize in all aspects of extreme car control. Car control is a critical element in becoming a standout professional. Most drivers never truly get the chance to learn all about front wheel skids, rear wheel skids, forward 180's, reverse 180's, forward 360's, 180 in 180 outs. The ability to practice these and to experiment on a closed course helps develop incredible feel, and control at a level even elite drivers do not often reach.

Many professional drivers do not know what they can do to potentially save a spinning car, or a car rolling backwards at 100 mph after the initial 180 spin, or when to lock the brakes vs when not to. So much to learn, and many drivers never have the opportunity to EXPERIMENT and then apply at critical moments, when the race is on the line.
